Flexotherm
is a reflective vapour barrier. It works similar to traditional
vapour barriers with the added benefit of also acting as a radiant
heat barrier.
Vapour
barriers are designed to retard the passage of moisture as it migrated
through a wall. Traditional mass insulation will absorb moisture
- the vapour barrier protects your insulation helping it to work
harder. The addition of the radiant heat barrier helps to keep your
home warm in the winter since the barrier reflects 97% of radiant
heat back into the room. Approximately 50% to 75% of heat loss in
a home is due to radiant heat.
 
Flexotherm
is made of a polyethylene film laminated on a 99% pure aluminum
foil. This material is strong as well as flexible and will not tear
like paper barriers.

Flexotherm
should be installed on ceilings as well as on walls, the same way
standard vapour barriers are installed. Flexotherm can also be used
on the inside walls of a sauna to help trap humidity and maximize
the heat performance. When installing the product remember that
the shiny side of the Flexotherm should always face the interior
of the room and seams should be sealed with aluminum tape.

Flexotherm
is very easy to install. The only items needed are a staple gun,
measuring tape, scissors and aluminum tape.
